Spotting at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport (CYYZ)- Friday January 1st 2010

25 Comments 02 February 2012

On the first day of 2010, I went to Pearson Airport (CYYZ) to catch some arrivals. Before leaving, I checked the winds and saw that they were favouring runways 24L/R and 23. I thought that would be great because we could film them from the Wendy’s parking lot, a famous spotting location at Pearson. We also were expecting the Emirates A380 at 2:50pm. When we were passing the airport at about 2:00pm, we saw the A380 sitting at the gate. That meant it would have arrived about an hour early! We set up in front of runway 23, but noticed that any aircraft moving around on the ground were arrivals, and they certainly hadn’t landed on 23 or the 24’s. We noticed the windsock had changed direction, facing almost Southerly. That meant runways 33L/R. Because my dad was a pilot, he had admission to the roads within the airport, so we drove around behind 33L/R and set up next to 33L. The lights were not on at the time, but there were vehicles driving up the runway, and it looked as if they were preparing to open the runway for arrivals. If that was the case, almost all arrivals, if not all, would be using 33L. That was a bonus. I remembered the spotting location from the take your kids to work day back in grade 9. It was a perfect location. right next to the runway, with just a chain fence that wasnt really in the way all too much. We had driven back around to try and catch arrivals on 33R for the meantime. The first of those arrivals was an Air Canada Airbus A330. I caught it on film

default Los Angeles International Airport (Sepulveda In and Out) Plane Spotting KLAX Sept 2007

TC and I promptly relocated to the famous Sepulveda spot, as our stomachs were rumbling and I was eager to give TC the unnerving feeling of having heavy 747s landing 200 ft above his head. Good times!

Delhi Indra Gandhi International Airport Development Overview [ Terminal 3 ] – 2010

21 Comments 22 December 2011

-Indira Gandhi International Airport is an airport located in West Delhi, India. Named after former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, it is the busiest airport in South Asia by traffic movements and passenger volume. The airport serves as the primary civilian aviation hub for the National Capital Region of India. The airport was previously operated by the Indian Air Force until its management was transferred to the Airport Authority of India. In May 2006, the management of the airport was passed over to Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), a joint venture led by the GMR Group, which also has the responsibility for the airport’s ongoing expansion and modernisation. In 2007, the airport handled 23 million passengers annually and the planned expansion program will increase its capacity to handle 100 million passengers by 2030. The new Terminal 3 building, currently under construction and expected to cost US.6 billion, will have capacity to handle an additional 33 million passengers annually by the start of the 2010 Commonwealth Games. And on completion will become the third largest terminal in the world, after Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 3 and Beijing International Airport’s Terminal 3. In September 2008, the airport inaugurated a 4.43 kilometre-long runway. The state-of-the-art integrated terminal, called T3, of Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in New Delhi is
